Emilie Balkman MPH, RD, LDN, is the owner and primary nutrition consultant for Foods2Chews, LLC. Emilie Balkman, a Registered and Licensed Dietitian with a specialty in Weight Management and Nutrition Education, completed her graduate work at the
University of
North Carolina at
Chapel Hill. Concurrent with her graduate studies, she worked with
Duke
University’s Diet and
Fitness
Center in
Durham, North Carolina. She also was an intern with Harvard’s
School of
Public Health and Children’s Hospital in
Boston, Massachusetts.
Emilie graduated with honors from the
University of
Kansas. Upon completion of her undergraduate work, she received an academic fellowship to develop a Community Health program in three townships in the Monteverde region of
Costa Rica. She also participated in an advanced Spanish language program at the Center for Bilingual Multicultural Studies at the Universidad Internacional in
Cuernavaca, Mexico.
Emilie has built her professional career on her ability to effectively educate a wide variety of populations. Before moving to Jacksonville, Florida, Emilie worked with overweight children and their families at
East
Carolina
University. As an adjunct faculty member and clinical dietitian at the Brody School of Medicine, she educated physicians, professors, and other healthcare providers about effective methods to prevent and treat childhood overweight.
Since relocating to
Florida, Emilie has had the opportunity to expand her knowledge and practice by consulting and working with various healthcare providers and academic institutions. She continues to work with corporate wellness companies as a consultant and healthcare provider. From a public health standpoint, she served as the Obesity Prevention Senior Public Health Nutritionist for the Duval County Health Department.
From a clinical standpoint, Emilie worked at the Mayo Clinic in
Jacksonville, and is currently working at Nemours Children's Clinic as an outpatient clinical dietitian. In addition to consulting and clinical work, Emilie has been an adjunct Nutrition instructor at the University of North Florida and the Art Institute in Jacksonville.
She combines her knowledge, experience, and compassion to the development of Foods2Chews, LLC. Through this company, she hopes to educate and empower people of all ages and backgrounds.
